Woodleigh Station – Ravenshoe

Woodleigh Station offers a genuine and historic Australian outback experience, providing travellers with an authentic bush camp on a working cattle property in the Atherton Tablelands. Located on the Kennedy Highway between Ravenshoe and Mount Garnet, this fifth-generation family-owned station has been operating since 1864, and a stay here is an immersion in pastoral history. The campground provides spacious, unpowered sites in a rustic and natural setting, typically along the banks of a creek or waterhole. It’s a back-to-basics style of camping, perfect for self-sufficient travellers in everything from tents to large caravans who want to escape the crowds and enjoy the peace of the bush. The facilities are simple but functional, usually including access to toilets and showers. The real charm of Woodleigh lies in its authenticity. Guests can enjoy the vast, open spaces, watch the station’s cattle graze, and explore the property’s unique landscape, which marks the transition from the high-altitude tablelands to the dry savannah country. It’s a fantastic location for birdwatching and photography, with incredible outback sunsets and brilliant starry nights. The hosts offer a warm country welcome and a glimpse into the daily life of a cattle station. Its location makes it a great base for exploring nearby attractions like the spectacular Millstream Falls and the historic town of Ravenshoe, Queensland’s highest town. For a truly authentic, peaceful, and historic country stay, Woodleigh Station is an unforgettable experience.
