Weiss Beach – Free, Pet-Friendly Camping on a Murray River Oasis

Escape to the serene and sandy shores of the Murray River at Weiss Beach, a stunning free camping area located within the beautiful Cobram Regional Park. This idyllic spot offers a classic Australian bush camping experience, perfect for self-sufficient travellers looking to unwind and connect with nature. The campground is set along a beautiful stretch of sandy beach, shaded by magnificent river red gums, providing a picturesque and peaceful environment. It’s an ideal location for a range of river activities, from swimming and kayaking in the calm waters to casting a line in hopes of catching a Murray Cod or Golden Perch. The spacious, undesignated sites allow campers to find their own private piece of paradise, making it suitable for tents, camper trailers, and off-road caravans.

As a primitive bush camp, Weiss Beach is for those who come fully prepared. There are no facilities on-site, so campers must bring their own portable toilet, drinking water, and take all their rubbish with them under a strict ‘leave no trace’ policy. This self-sufficiency is rewarded with a pristine and tranquil setting. The campground is pet-friendly, so you can enjoy this riverside haven with your four-legged friends. The unsealed access tracks can be challenging, especially after rain, so a 4WD or high-clearance vehicle is recommended, which helps maintain the area’s secluded feel. With the town of Cobram just a short drive away for supplies, Weiss Beach offers the perfect combination of remote bush camping and convenience, making it a top choice for a memorable and budget-friendly Murray River adventure.
