St George Riverfront Tourist Park, St George QLD

Back in business with a new name and fresh energy, the St George Riverfront Tourist Park welcomes travellers to the iconic Queensland outback. Formerly known to many as the Kapunda Fishing Park, and located at the site of the old Riverview park, this destination is once again offering its prime location to anglers, nomads, and families. Situated on the Carnarvon Highway just north of St George, the park’s greatest asset is its unbeatable proximity to Beardmore Dam (Lake Kajarabie), one of the region’s premier freshwater fishing spots. This convenience makes it the perfect base camp for those looking to launch a boat and chase the legendary Murray Cod or Yellowbelly that inhabit the dam’s waters.

Under new management, the park is focused on providing a clean, quiet, and friendly atmosphere. It provides spacious powered and unpowered sites set in a peaceful, rural environment, away from the hustle of the main town. It’s an ideal spot to unwind after a long drive, with plenty of shady spots to set up camp and enjoy the vast outback skies. The pet-friendly policy means the whole family can join the adventure. While the park itself offers a tranquil retreat, it’s only a short drive into St George to access supermarkets, pubs, and cafes. Visitors can explore the town’s unique attractions, such as the incredible carved emu egg collection at The Unique Egg or the local history at the St George Heritage Centre. Whether you are on a dedicated fishing trip, exploring the inland route, or simply seeking a peaceful stopover with genuine country hospitality, the reopened St George Riverfront Tourist Park is a fantastic choice.
