Discover the perfect blend of country charm and modern convenience at South Goulburn Caravan Park. Situated on the southern approach to Goulburn, Australia’s first inland city, this park offers an exceptional base for travellers exploring the Southern Tablelands. Whether you are journeying along the Hume Highway between Sydney and Canberra or settling in for a multi-day exploration of the region’s rich colonial history, South Goulburn Caravan Park provides a peaceful, leafy sanctuary that remains just minutes from the heart of the city’s vibrant dining and heritage precinct.
Goulburn is a city defined by its historic architecture and its status as a major regional hub for the wool industry. Staying at South Goulburn Caravan Park puts you in a prime position to visit the world-famous Big Merino, an iconic 15-metre-tall monument to the region’s merino wool history, located just a few hundred metres from the park gates. The city itself is a treasure trove for history enthusiasts, featuring remarkably preserved 19th-century buildings, the historic Goulburn Waterworks Museum on the banks of the Wollondilly River, and the fascinating Goulburn Rail Heritage Centre, which houses the largest heritage-based operating roundhouse in New South Wales.
The park’s natural bushland setting offers a serene environment that contrasts beautifully with the bustling energy of the city. Spanning seven picturesque acres, the grounds are frequented by local birdlife and offer a cool, shaded retreat during the warmer months. For those seeking adventure beyond the city limits, the park serves as a gateway to the spectacular Bungonia National Park, known for its deep limestone canyons and wild caves, as well as the adrenaline-pumping Pheasant Wood Circuit for motorsports fans.
Accommodation at South Goulburn Caravan Park is meticulously designed to cater to the practical needs of the modern road-tripper. The park is renowned for its spacious, level drive-through sites that can easily accommodate the largest caravans and motorhomes, minimising the stress of arrival and setup. For those looking for the comforts of home, a range of self-contained cabins—including the premium Merino Villas and the worker-friendly ‘dongas’—provide clean, air-conditioned environments.
