Raids Inlet Camp Ground, Lake Eildon VIC

Escape the crowds and discover a unique lakeside retreat at Raids Inlet Camp Ground, a secluded spot on the shores of Lake Eildon accessible primarily by boat. This remote campsite offers a true getaway for those looking to combine their love of boating and water sports with a peaceful, self-sufficient camping experience. Tucked away within the vast Lake Eildon National Park, Raids Inlet provides a tranquil haven where you can moor your boat, pitch a tent right by the water’s edge, and immerse yourself in the stunning natural surrounds of the Victorian high country.

The campground is a designated area with basic facilities, catering to those who are prepared to be self-reliant. It’s a spacious, grassy clearing that slopes gently towards the water, providing easy access for swimming, fishing, or launching a kayak. The real magic of Raids Inlet lies in its isolation; arriving by water immediately sets a different pace, allowing you to disconnect from the hustle and bustle. Days can be spent exploring the endless inlets and arms of the lake, water skiing on the open expanses, or simply relaxing at camp, watching the sunlight dapple on the water as native birdlife flits through the surrounding bushland.

While 4WD access is technically possible via Delatite Plantation Road, it is an extremely challenging and unreliable route often impacted by weather and forestry operations, making boat access the standard and recommended method. This exclusivity ensures the campground remains a relatively quiet and pristine environment. Campers must bring everything they need, including drinking water and a portable toilet, and diligently practice ‘leave no trace’ principles. For boaties and avid campers, Raids Inlet is a fantastic destination offering a perfect blend of adventure and serenity on one of Victoria’s most iconic waterways.
