Old Yarraman Weir – Yarraman

The Old Yarraman Weir offers a quintessential free camping experience in the heart of Queensland’s picturesque South Burnett region. Located just a stone’s throw from the charming town of Yarraman, this spot is a favourite among self-contained travellers looking for a peaceful and scenic place to rest. The campground consists of a large, open, grassy area situated right beside the tranquil waters of the old weir on Yarraman Creek. It’s a simple, back-to-basics camp with a relaxed atmosphere, where visitors can park their caravans or motorhomes and simply unwind. The key attraction is the serenity of the location; it’s perfect for birdwatching, enjoying a quiet afternoon read, or watching the sunset over the water. While the weir itself is not typically used for swimming or fishing, its presence creates a beautiful and calming environment. The campground has no facilities, so it is strictly for those who are fully self-contained, with their own toilet, shower, water, and power supplies. This ‘leave no trace’ philosophy helps maintain the pristine condition of the site for everyone to enjoy. Its proximity to Yarraman is a major advantage, providing easy access to shops, pubs, and other essential services. The weir also serves as a fantastic base for exploring the local area, including the popular Brisbane Valley Rail Trail, making it an ideal stopover for cyclists and hikers.
