Ogmore Truck Rest Area – Ogmore

The Ogmore Truck Rest Area is a large, practical, and vital free 24-hour rest stop on the Bruce Highway in Central Queensland. Located in the small settlement of Ogmore, it serves as an essential point for drivers to manage fatigue on the long and often monotonous journey between Rockhampton and Mackay. This is a functional, no-frills rest area, designed with the needs of long-distance travellers and truck drivers in mind. The site comprises a very large, sealed bitumen area, providing an enormous amount of space that can easily accommodate the biggest rigs, buses, and caravans, with separate parking areas for trucks and lighter vehicles. The facilities are basic but cover the necessities for an overnight stop, including a toilet block and rubbish bins. As a self-contained stop, travellers should come prepared with their own water, power, and cooking facilities. While the rest area is situated right on the highway and is primarily a large parking bay, its convenience is its greatest asset. The nearby Ogmore Hotel offers a slice of country hospitality, providing travellers with the option of a hot meal and a cold drink just a short walk away. The Ogmore Truck Rest Area isn’t a scenic destination, but it’s an incredibly important piece of road infrastructure, providing a safe, spacious, and reliable place to rest, recharge, and break the journey.
