Munda Rest Area – Kurumbul

The Munda Rest Area is a classic, no-frills free 24-hour bush camp providing an essential service for travellers on the Cunningham Highway (National Route 42), just north of the Queensland-New South Wales border. Located in the rural locality of Kurumbul, this is a very basic but spacious rest stop, ideal for fully self-contained vehicles needing a safe place to pull over for the night. The site consists of a large, level dirt and gravel area set back from the highway in a pleasant bushland setting, offering plenty of room for all vehicle sizes, including big rigs, to find a private spot. The appeal of the Munda Rest Area lies in its quiet isolation and convenience. It allows for a peaceful night’s sleep away from the main highway traffic, under a vast, starry sky. Its proximity to the major regional centre of Goondiwindi means that travellers can easily access a full range of services before or after their stay. For the self-sufficient camper looking for a simple, quiet, and convenient free stop in the border rivers region, Munda Rest Area is an excellent choice.
