Mt Nimmel Lodge Campground, Austinville QLD

Escape the city buzz and immerse yourself in the tranquil beauty of the Gold Coast Hinterland at Mt Nimmel Lodge Campground. Tucked away in the lush, green valley of Austinville, this private campground offers a genuine back-to-nature experience that feels a world away from the coast’s famous beaches, yet is only a short drive from them. This is not your typical caravan park; it’s a rustic, spacious, and character-filled property that champions the simple pleasures of bush camping. The campground is set on a large, picturesque property with level, grassy sites scattered alongside the clear, running waters of Austinville Creek, providing a soothing natural soundtrack for your stay.

The atmosphere at Mt Nimmel is wonderfully relaxed and communal, centred around the historic ‘Lodge’. This communal hub provides campers with access to basic but welcome facilities, including a camp kitchen, rustic hot showers, and toilets. It’s a fantastic spot to meet fellow travellers and share stories. One of the most beloved features of the campground is the freedom to have a campfire at your site (in provided fire pits), allowing for magical evenings spent toasting marshmallows under a canopy of stars. The camp is proudly pet-friendly, making it a perfect getaway for the entire family, with the creek providing a great splash-and-play area for dogs and kids alike.

While the campground itself is a destination for relaxation, its location makes it an ideal base for exploring the region’s spectacular natural attractions. The world-heritage-listed Springbrook National Park, with its stunning waterfalls and ancient rainforest walks, is just a scenic drive away. The convenience of Mudgeeraba and Robina townships means supplies are never far, blending peaceful isolation with accessibility. For campers who appreciate nature, serenity, and a rustic, authentic vibe over polished resort-style amenities, Mt Nimmel Lodge offers an unforgettable hinterland escape.
