Experience the authentic rural charm of the Riverina at Lockhart Caravan Park. Ideally situated along the banks of the picturesque Brookong Creek and just a short stroll from the historic town centre, this park offers a serene sanctuary for travellers seeking to immerse themselves in one of Australia’s most unique regional communities. Known affectionately as the “Verandah Town” for its remarkably preserved 19th-century streetscapes, Lockhart is a destination where time seems to slow down, offering a perfect blend of heritage, art, and a relaxed country pace of life that is ideal for road-trippers and nature lovers alike.
The park’s location is its greatest asset for history and art enthusiasts. Lockhart is world-famous for the ‘Spirit of the Land’ Festival, and staying at Lockhart Caravan Park puts you at the centre of a town that celebrates its agricultural roots through incredible farm art sculptures. These unique pieces, crafted from recycled farm materials, are scattered throughout the town and along the walking tracks adjacent to the park. The town’s main street is a living museum, featuring grand verandahs that shade boutique shops, traditional tea rooms, and the award-winning Greens Gunyah Museum, which houses the extraordinary Doris Golder Wool Art collection.
For those seeking a connection to the landscape, the surrounding Riverina region offers a spectacular tapestry of golden wheat and canola fields. Nature enthusiasts will appreciate the Brookong Creek walking track, which meanders past the park and offers excellent opportunities for birdwatching and spotting local wildlife in a quiet, undisturbed setting. Just a short drive away lies the impressive Galore Hill Nature Reserve, providing panoramic views over the vast plains and offering rugged hiking trails through caves and native bushland. The park itself provides a tranquil, shaded haven where you can relax after a day of exploration, enjoying a sunset over the water as the local galahs settle for the night.
Accommodation at Lockhart Caravan Park is meticulously designed to cater to the practical needs of the modern traveller. The park is renowned for its spacious, level sites that provide plenty of room for even the largest caravans and motorhomes, ensuring a stress-free setup.
