Koumala Caravan Park – Your Classic Country Pub Stop on the Isaac Coast

For travellers seeking an authentic, friendly, and affordable stopover on the Bruce Highway, the Koumala Caravan Park offers a classic Australian experience. Tucked away behind the historic Koumala Hotel, this park embodies the true spirit of a country pub stay. It’s a simple, no-fuss campground that prides itself on genuine hospitality, providing a quiet and secure place to rest for the night. The park is a welcome sight after a long drive, offering spacious, grassy sites where you can unhitch and unwind, away from the noise of the main road. The laid-back atmosphere makes it a popular choice for those who appreciate the simple pleasures of outback travel. The park’s biggest charm is its connection to the pub itself, which serves as the social heart of the small sugarcane town. It’s just a short stroll from your campsite to the bar for a cold beer, a delicious counter meal, and a good yarn with the friendly locals. Beyond its convenience as a stopover, Koumala is also a fantastic base for exploring the incredible fishing, crabbing, and boating opportunities of the Isaac Coast. The rugged beauty of Cape Palmerston National Park and the boat ramps at Greenhill and Armstrong Beach are just a short drive away, making the park an ideal and affordable launchpad for keen anglers and adventurers. If you’re looking for a break from the larger, more commercial parks and want to experience a true slice of country life, the Koumala Caravan Park is a perfect choice.
