Nestled in the picturesque Pioneer Valley just west of Mackay, Kinchant Waters is a legendary destination for freshwater anglers and a paradise for watersports enthusiasts. This sprawling caravan park, set on the shores of the magnificent Kinchant Dam, offers a complete recreational escape. It is world-renowned among fishing circles as one of Australia’s premier barramundi impoundments, famous for producing monster “metre-plus” barra that test the skill of even the most experienced anglers. The park is a vibrant hub of activity, with the buzz of ski boats and the quiet patience of fishermen creating a unique and exciting atmosphere against a stunning rural backdrop. The park is designed to be a self-contained holiday destination. With expansive, grassy, unpowered sites stretching along the water’s edge and powered sites set back in a comfortable, shady area, there’s a spot for every type of camper. The on-site bar and grill is the social heart of the park, serving up delicious meals and cold drinks with a fantastic view over the dam—the perfect place to unwind after a big day on the water. The all-tide boat ramp provides effortless access for launching everything from fishing tinnies to high-powered ski boats. Beyond the water, Kinchant Waters serves as a fantastic base for exploring the wider region, from the lush rainforests of Eungella National Park to the sugar cane fields of the Pioneer Valley.
