Karumba Gulf Country Caravan Park – Karumba QLD Accommodation

Perched on the banks of the Norman River where it meets the Gulf of Carpentaria, the Karumba Gulf Country Caravan Park is a legendary destination for travellers seeking the quintessential outback-by-the-sea experience. This park is the bustling heart of Karumba’s tourism, offering a comfortable and feature-packed base for what are undoubtedly the town’s biggest drawcards: phenomenal fishing and breathtaking sunsets. As the final destination on the Matilda Highway, Karumba has a magnetic pull for anglers, birdwatchers, and those simply wanting to witness one of Australia’s last untamed frontiers. The caravan park caters perfectly to this influx, providing a vast array of spacious powered and unpowered sites set amongst palms and well-maintained grounds, creating a relaxed, tropical atmosphere.

The park’s facilities are tailored to the needs of its adventurous guests. Multiple swimming pools offer a cool respite from the tropical warmth, while the camp kitchen and barbecue areas become social hubs where daily catches are discussed and travel plans are made. For the serious angler, the purpose-built fish cleaning station is an indispensable feature. The park also acts as a convenient booking agent for the myriad of local tours, from croc-spotting river cruises to serious Barramundi and King Salmon fishing charters that explore the rich estuary systems. In the evenings, the park is ideally situated for a short stroll to the river’s edge or the famous Sunset Tavern to watch the sky explode in colour as the sun dips below the gulf’s horizon. For a comfortable, convenient, and truly immersive Gulf experience, the Karumba Gulf Country Caravan Park is the ultimate home base.
