Gunnedah Showground RV Park Camping – Koala Capital Stopover

For travellers exploring the rich agricultural heartland of the Liverpool Plains, the Gunnedah Showground offers a convenient, spacious, and welcoming RV park and camping area. Located in the town famously known as the “Koala Capital of the World,” this showground provides an affordable and practical base for all types of campers. The grounds feature vast, level, grassy areas, making it easy to accommodate everything from the largest motorhomes and big rigs to caravans, camper trailers, and tents. With a good array of powered and unpowered sites, it’s a reliable and popular stopover for those journeying through the North West Slopes region of New South Wales.

The prime advantage of staying at the Gunnedah Showground is its combination of space and proximity to town services. While offering a relaxed, open environment, you are just a short drive from Gunnedah’s main streets, which host supermarkets, pubs, cafes, and all necessary amenities. This makes restocking supplies or enjoying a meal out incredibly easy. The showground is the perfect launchpad for discovering Gunnedah’s unique attractions, most notably the high population of wild koalas that can often be spotted in the gum trees around town and at the dedicated Koala Park. The region’s rich poetic history, celebrated at the Dorothea Mackellar Memorial, and its agricultural heritage, showcased at the Rural Museum, are also must-sees. With clean facilities, including hot showers, toilets, and a dump point, the Gunnedah Showground provides all the essentials for a comfortable and enjoyable stay in this iconic Aussie country town.
