Greens Lake Recreation Reserve, Premier Free Lakeside Camping in Victoria

Greens Lake Recreation Reserve is one of Victoria’s most popular and beloved free campgrounds, offering an exceptional lakeside experience for travellers of all kinds. Located just a short drive from the town of Corop, this expansive reserve provides a vast, open, and grassy area along the western foreshore of the lake, with plenty of room for even the biggest rigs to find a perfect spot. It’s a true paradise for water enthusiasts, with a boat ramp providing easy access for skiing, fishing, and kayaking when water levels permit. The sheer size of the reserve means you can always find your own space to relax and enjoy the wide-open skies and beautiful sunsets over the water.

What makes Greens Lake a standout destination is the incredible level of community-supported facilities, which are rare for a free camp. The site boasts a modern amenities block with flushing toilets and hot showers, a dedicated dump point for self-contained vehicles, and numerous picnic tables and barbecue areas. This makes it an incredibly comfortable and convenient base for exploring the surrounding region, including the nearby wineries of the Heathcote and Goulburn Valley wine regions. The campground is proudly pet-friendly, adding to its appeal for families and long-term travellers. While camping is free, the site operates on a ‘carry-in, carry-out’ policy for rubbish to help keep it pristine. For a top-tier free camping experience with excellent amenities in a beautiful lakeside setting, Greens Lake Recreation Reserve is an unmissable Victorian destination.
