The reserve serves as an excellent base for exploring the local area, which is renowned for its bird life, including the rare Regent Honeyeater. The nearby towns of Barraba and Manilla provide opportunities to restock supplies and experience authentic rural NSW hospitality. Days at the reserve can be spent exploring the riverbanks, trying a spot of fishing, or simply enjoying the vast open space.
