Delegate Caravan Park, nestled within the picturesque Bill Jeffrey’s Memorial Park, offers a serene riverside retreat for travellers exploring the southern reaches of the Snowy Monaro region. Located just a short stroll from the heart of the historic village of Delegate, this quiet park is the ideal destination for those looking to disconnect from the modern world and immerse themselves in a landscape defined by rolling grazing land, lush forests, and the gentle flow of the Delegate River. As the New South Wales town closest to the Victorian border, Delegate serves as a unique cultural and historical crossroads, making it a must-visit for heritage enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.
The park itself is renowned for its tranquil atmosphere, where the most pressing activity on your itinerary might be spotting a platypus in the river or reading a book under the shade of a mature tree. At Delegate Caravan Park, we cater to all types of outdoor enthusiasts, offering a selection of powered and unpowered sites suitable for everything from large caravans to lightweight tents. The grounds are part of a community-focused reserve that provides a safe and welcoming environment for families, solo travellers, and grey nomads. Whether you are passing through on your way to the coast or using Delegate as a base for high-country exploration, you will find our facilities well-maintained and our hospitality genuine.
The village of Delegate is steeped in Australian history, famously serving as the starting point for the 1916 “Men from Snowy River” recruitment march. Visitors can wander the Delegate Heritage Walk to see some of the town’s oldest buildings, including the Early Settlers Hut—a rare example of mid-1840s squatter architecture. The surrounding region is equally impressive, offering access to the South East Forest National Park and the Bundian Way, an ancient Aboriginal pathway that connected the high country to the coast. The park’s location makes it a perfect stopover for those travelling the scenic routes between Canberra, the Snowy Mountains, and the Sapphire Coast.
Each season in Delegate brings its own unique charm. From the crisp, clear winter mornings to the vibrant, sunny afternoons of summer, the plateau climate is refreshing and invigorating. We invite you to experience the slower pace of life in our corner of the world. At Delegate Caravan Park, we provide more than just a place to stay; we offer a front-row seat to the quiet beauty of the Monaro Plains. With the recent completion of the town’s state-of-the-art water treatment plant, guests can now enjoy fully potable drinking water—a historic milestone for our community. Come and discover the peace, history, and community spirit that make Delegate a truly special place.
