CMCA Nyngan Van Park

Discover the authentic charm of regional New South Wales at the CMCA Nyngan Van Park. Ideally situated in the historic town of Nyngan, at the junction of the Mitchell and Barrier Highways, this park serves as the ultimate gateway for travellers journeying into the vast Australian outback. Managed by the Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia, the Nyngan park offers a unique, low-cost accommodation model that prioritises space, simplicity, and a genuine connection to the local community. Located just a short stroll from the peaceful Bogan River, it provides a tranquil sanctuary for those looking to explore the Bogan Shire’s rich heritage and natural beauty.

Nyngan is a town that prides itself on its resilience and its quirky sense of humour, most famously embodied by the “Big Bogan” statue located in the heart of the village. Staying at the CMCA Nyngan Van Park puts you in a prime position to explore this iconic landmark and the surrounding heritage precinct. The town played a vital role in Australia’s agricultural and transport history, which is beautifully preserved in the Mid-State Shearing Shed Museum and the historic railway station. The park’s location allows guests to easily transition from the convenience of town services to the raw beauty of the riverbank, where the rhythmic calls of galahs and the sight of river red gums create a quintessentially Australian atmosphere.

The Bogan River remains a central feature of life in Nyngan, providing a spectacular environment for outdoor enthusiasts. Whether you are interested in a peaceful afternoon of birdwatching, a spot of river fishing, or a scenic walk along the flood levee banks, the area surrounding the park is a nature-lover’s paradise. The region is known for its wide-open skies and spectacular sunsets that paint the horizon in shades of orange and purple. For those seeking to venture further afield, Nyngan serves as a strategic base for exploring the Macquarie Marshes to the north or continuing westward toward the opal fields of Lightning Ridge and the historic port of Bourke.

Accommodation at CMCA Nyngan Van Park is designed with the self-contained traveller in mind. The park is renowned for its large, level sites that can easily accommodate the most substantial motorhomes and caravans. As part of the CMCA’s network of member-friendly parks, it offers a secure and social environment where travellers can share stories of the road.
