Experience one of the Mornington Peninsula’s most cherished family camping destinations at Balnarring Beach Foreshore Reserve. This managed campground offers prime, shaded sites nestled behind the sand dunes, providing direct access to the clean, safe waters of Balnarring Beach. It’s an ideal location for a classic Australian beach holiday, combining a relaxed, natural setting with the convenience of being close to the region’s best wineries, cafes, and attractions.
The campground is divided into several blocks, with “Reserve B” being one of the popular sections. The reserve is renowned for its family-friendly atmosphere, where kids can ride bikes on the internal roads and families can enjoy picnics on the grassy foreshore. The sites are suitable for a wide range of setups, from tents and swags to large caravans and motorhomes, with many sites offering power and shade from the mature coastal trees.
Access is excellent via sealed roads, making it suitable for all vehicles. As a managed park, it features essential amenities, including clean toilet and shower blocks, laundry facilities, and potable water. An on-site dump point is typically available for registered guests.
It is crucial to be aware of the strict rules designed to protect the sensitive foreshore environment and ensure a peaceful stay for all campers. **Solid fuel fires, including wood and charcoal, are strictly prohibited** at all times. Gas-powered cooking appliances are permitted. Furthermore, to protect the local wildlife, **pets are not allowed** within the campground. Bookings are essential, especially during peak summer, Easter, and long-weekend periods, and should be made well in advance.
The location is a perfect base for exploring the Mornington Peninsula. You are just minutes from the Balnarring village shops, world-class wineries in Red Hill and Merricks, and iconic attractions like the Pt. Leo Estate Sculpture Park.
